Children’s Welfare
Round Towers Lusk / CLG Chloigthithe Lusca is fully committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all young people who participate in our activities. We do our utmost to take all practicable steps to safeguard children from any discernible forms of abuse, harm, discrimination or degrading treatment and we respect their rights, wishes and feelings.
Team
The Club Children’s Officers shall assist in promoting a child and youth centred ethos in the Club. The key role of the Club Children’s Officers is to ensure the implementation and promotion of the relevant Code of Behaviour (Underage), so as to ensure that young people can participate, enjoy and benefit from our Gaelic Games in safe and enjoyable surroundings. All GAA clubs must have a Designated Liaison Officer who shall be responsible at an initial stage for dealing with any concerns relating to the possible abuse of children as reported or made known to them.
If you are a Juvenile member who has concerns or is worried about your treatment within the Club OR an adult member or parent who has concerns about the welfare of a child you are urged to contact the Children’s Officer. You can be assured you will be dealt with professionally and in the strictest confidence.

In the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association, any person who carries out a role of responsibility such as coaching, managing or training juvenile or adult teams that includes any player under 18 years of age must be vetted and safeguarded (Legal Requirement). It also applies to organising underage activities or refereeing underage games, FLOs and roles such as club officers and photographers of children’s games.
Garda Vetting Procedure / Grinnfhiosrú Gardaí (Nós Imeachta)
The Garda Vetting System is now part of Foireann. The steps are briefly outlined below. Click on the ‘GAA Garda Vetting’ button below to access all necessary forms or for further information.

Child Safeguarding Procedure / Caomhnú Páistí (Nós Imeachta)
Face-to-face Child Safeguarding 1 workshops take place in the club throughout the year. This certification is valid for a 3-year period and can be extended for a further 3 years by completing the online refresher course within 6 weeks of expiry renewal date.
Face-to-face workshops take place several times a year at RTL. RTL will advise on course date/time & enrolment details; you will have to register via TOBAR https://learning.gaa.ie/user/register. This is essential to receive your certificate. The course itself takes approximately 2 hours.
Child Safeguarding 1 online Refresher Course is available for those who have already attended a full face-to-face Safeguarding 1 session in the last 3 years. Visit Child Safeguarding Home | Tobar for more information.
Once you have registered on Tobar and attended the course your Safeguarding certificate will be issued.
Important – You must connect your ‘Tobar’ account to your ‘Foireann’ profile to enable your certification to appear in the ‘Qualifications and Vetting’ section of your ‘Foireann’ profile. To do this click on the green button on the top of the page in Tobar that says ‘Foireann Connect’. If this button is not visable then the accounts are already synced. Your Child Safeguarding Certification is valid for 3 years.
